Speech at NYC Gracie Mansion

Representation & Civic Leadership

Marie Speaks Truth to Power at Gracie Mansion

Representation matters. At Gracie Mansion, the ‘People’s House’ of New York City, Marie Mirville-Shahzada took the podium to deliver a powerful message on behalf of the families of Assembly District 46. Standing as a proud Black Muslim woman and daughter of immigrants, she spoke directly to city leadership about the urgent need for resources in our overlooked communities.

Her presence on this stage sends a clear message: Our district will no longer be silent. She made it clear that the diverse voices of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Coney Island can no longer be ignored by those in power. Marie is ready to take this same bold advocacy to Albany to fight for the funding

I am running because everyone deserves a voice—and access to the resources that allow them to live with dignity. No one in our district should ever feel overlooked or left behind.
