ROOTED IN SERVICE

26 Years of Feeding Our Future

Marie Mirville-Shahzada is a proud Working Democrat and the daughter of Haitian and Dominican immigrants. Raised in a family that understood the true meaning of sacrifice and resilience, she draws her strength from her father, a Vietnam Veteran, who taught her the values of discipline, courage, and duty principles that continue to guide her leadership today.

For 26 years, Marie has dedicated her professional life to serving New York City as a School Food Service Manager. Her work placed her in the heart of our community, ensuring that thousands of children received nourishment and dignity every single day.

I will always stand up with compassion and strength to protect our families, our seniors, and our neighborhoods.

A Mother’s Fight

The Personal Story

Marie’s advocacy isn’t just policy it is deeply personal. As a mother of four, she has walked the hardest paths a parent can travel, facing the heartbreaking loss of a child to NEC and raising a child living with Autism, ADHD, and speech delays. She has personally navigated the maze of a broken system, fighting through the frustrations, the delays, and the triumphs to secure essential services. Marie knows the weight of the late-night worries, the endless paperwork, and the struggle to be heard. This lived experience fuels her unshakeable commitment: she will always be a fierce champion for parents of children with disabilities, ensuring that no family is left to fight alone and that those who feel unseen are finally given a voice.
